Progressive policy, billing and Snapshot data

Progressive Casualty Insurance Company · Banking

Progressive is the official Android self-service app from Progressive Casualty Insurance Company, the Mayfield Village, Ohio personal-lines insurer. After a policyholder signs in, the home experience covers digital insurance ID cards (print and Google Wallet), policy details and endorsements, bill pay with saved card, ACH, PayPal and Google Pay, claims intake (first notice of loss) and status, Snapshot usage-based insurance with trip scores, loyalty-plus benefits, roadside help, Name Your Price quotes, find-an-agent, and the Ask Flo chat assistant. The same login can hold auto, motorcycle, boat, RV, homeowners or renters and small-commercial lines. Published for the United States, it serves Progressive customers who want ID cards, payments, Snapshot and claims on the phone rather than progressive.com or a phone agent, and it sits against the GEICO, State Farm, Allstate and USAA official apps for the same US personal-auto crowd.

Named-insured households pin ecid to a policyNumber list, with insuredFirstName, insuredLastName, policyEffectiveDate, policyExpirationDate, totalPolicyPremium and riskType describing each auto or property term. Billing rows expose paymentDueAmount, paymentDueDate, lastPaymentAmount and paySchedule; the payment ledger pages billingHistoryItems with totalCount.

Proof of insurance is a digital ID card: iDCardArray entries carry documents, effectiveDate, expirationDate and isValidForPrintIdCard. First-notice claims land as claimNumber, claimStatus, dateOfLoss and isClaimOpen. Snapshot devices return participantId, currentDiscount, projectedDiscount and gradeLevel, then page trips with tripCount and ratedDistractedDriving. Loyalty-plus status is currentLevel plus isLoyaltyPlus.

Policy-admin, claims and fleet tools all need this Progressive household record. Billing systems join policyNumber to paymentDueAmount and paymentDueDate so auto-pay and short-pay rules fire without a portal; repair shops match claimNumber to dateOfLoss; rental desks render documents instead of a glove-box card; safety programs coach from Snapshot gradeLevel. openData Studio turns those fields into callable open data.

API surface

The endpoints and request/response examples below are reconstructed from the app's interface — illustrative, not a live capture.

  • Username/password sign-in check

    POST /v1/sessions/{flowId}/credentials osint

Validates the policyholder userId and password on the sign-in flow started by the Android client, returning flow status and an authorization code or access token for the Progressive session.

Auth: Unauthenticated sign-in flow. flowId comes from the authorization start (PKCE S256). Body is username and password. Success returns authorizeResponse.accessToken or a continue/MFA step.

Where teams use this data

  • Agency billing reconciliation

Agency and finance tools join each policyNumber to paymentDueAmount, paymentDueDate, lastPaymentAmount and paySchedule so auto-pay and short-pay rules run without a portal login.

  • Claims vendor routing

Repair, rental and photo-estimate vendors match claimNumber, dateOfLoss, claimStatus and isClaimOpen so work orders attach to the right Progressive claim and photoEstimateEligibilityIndicator can trigger a guided-photo invite.

  • Digital ID-card verification

Rental desks and employer fleet checks render documents from the ID-card payload plus policyNumber, effectiveDate, expirationDate and isValidForPrintIdCard instead of photographing a paper card.

  • Snapshot coaching feeds

Safety programs read currentDiscount, projectedDiscount and gradeLevel on enrolled devices, then page trips with tripCount and ratedDistractedDriving to coach hard-braking and phone use without a second telematics box.

Frequently asked questions

What policy and billing data does the Progressive app expose?

The customer summary returns ecid, firstName, lastName and the household policyNumber list. Each policy details record adds insuredFirstName, policyEffectiveDate, policyExpirationDate, totalPolicyPremium, riskType and vehicles. Account billing carries paymentDueAmount, paymentDueDate, lastPaymentAmount, paySchedule and paymentMethod; billing history pages billingHistoryItems with totalCount.

How does the app authenticate policyholders?

Sign-in is a PKCE-protected authorization-code flow: an authorization start, then a username/password check that returns a flow id, status and authorizeResponse. The code is exchanged for accessToken and refreshToken. Later policy, billing and claims calls attach an Authorization Bearer header, and some claims and payment calls add a short-lived companion token.

Where do digital ID cards come from?

The ID-card service accepts mimeType and a policies array of policyNumber plus cards, and returns iDCardArray documents with effectiveDate, expirationDate, riskType and isValidForPrintIdCard. A Google Wallet pass can be minted from the same policy keys.

Does the app expose Snapshot driving data?

Yes. Policy devices list participantId, currentDiscount, projectedDiscount, gradeLevel, deviceStatus and ubiNickname. Trip reports page trips with tripCount, totalPages and ratedDistractedDriving for the enrolled Snapshot participant.
